When we decided to build a new home, we were somewhat nervous because we had been in real estate for over 25 years and had seen and heard horror stories about the building process and contractors in general. We interviewed many contractors but it was Marlin that stood out among all of them. Still being cautious, we requested references from him and followed up on them. We spoke to other people who had Marlin build their home years ago, and they were still very happy and satisfied with their homes years later. In fact, several of the homeowners have had Marlin come back to complete additions, finish basements, and other projects because they were so happy with him. He listened to what we had to say and made suggestions for our consideration. A unique thing that Marlin does that no one else offered was a consultation with a personal designer who helped me with some of my complicated decisions. This showed us that he really cared about our satisfaction. 
He was very communicative during the building process and gave us plenty of time to make decisions. He was also very understanding when we occasionally changed our minds or requested revisions. His subcontractors were just as caring and competent, and their attention to detail was impressive. The quality of the construction and finish in our new home is superb; we definitely got our money’s worth and more. 
The process went smoother than we ever imagined, and we could not be happier with the way our new home turned out. We have recommended Marlin to several of our friends. If we ever decided to build another house, Marlin would be the only contractor we would call. In fact, we have already engaged him to enclose our back porch.     
Having worked in real estate for decades, we know how hard it is to be a general contractor and deal with so many issues. Marlin is a professional who makes it look easy because he is extremely competent.

We have built two homes and used Schrec's for our second house. I would highly recommend Marlin and his team for both home construction and add-ons, remodels, etc. First, the quality was top notch, with great finish and detail work and solid construction. Second, the contracting process was honest and fair. Many builders will show a low initial home price but then either cut corners or include allowances for flooring, lighting, cabinets, etc. that are insufficient, causing you out-of-pocket added payments. Marlin includes allowances that match what you say you want in your house so that your initial contract price is as accurate as possible (we actually underspent on our allowances by almost $10k while still getting quality items).

When you choose a builder or contractor, you want somebody that not only does good work, but that you trust and know you won't have issues with. This was our experience with Marlin. Highly recommended.
